Hammond Public Library announces Job Ready Service Program

CATEGORY: Events, Hammond Public Library

The Hammond Public Library announces the Job Ready Service Program, a three-week training seminar to educate job seekers on strategic methods to assist them in obtaining employment. Library staff will offer training in the use of bibliographic resources, as well as instruction on the latest trends in prospective markets. We hope to engage local businesses and organizations that also would be willing to assist and support this venture.

The Job Ready Service Program will focus on four major goals:

  1. to encourage participants to do a personal assessment to determine their eligibility for the position they seek.
  2. to identify jobs for which they meet the competency skill set requirements
  3. to prepare and pursue the skills necessary to secure the position they desire
  4. to secure the interview and get the job.

If you’re looking for a job, we encourage you to register for the three-week seminar. Attending all sessions is necessary because each session builds upon what was presented the week before. We will help you to evaluate your need to improve skills. Then, at the end of the three-week session, we’ll channel you to other governmental service centers that provide resources to help build on these skills. Improving a job seeker’s competency skills will enhance productivity, sales closure, and customer satisfaction.
HPL, working with other agencies, will provide the education that ensures job seekers maintain the tools necessary to secure a job and advance their careers.
