Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development are pleased to announce the final groundbreaking at the Oxbow Landing Development in Hammond. When first elected in 2004, Mayor McDermott saw the economic potential for this site and one of his first major projects was to demolish the crime-ridden buildings in 2006 and create a plan to bring commerce to the area. That innovative plan is almost complete, with the final 4.4AC lot purchased and its upcoming development of a second Class-A office building and four outlot buildings. Creating a business-friendly atmosphere in Hammond and fostering strong relationships with its local businesses is a priority to Mayor McDermott and his Economic Development team. “Our economic development team has worked hard over the past 14 years to bring new development to Hammond,” stated Mayor McDermott. “With our initial $20M investment in the Oxbow Landing Development area, we have reaped $46.5M in commercial development and thus far 120 new employees.”

ATG Real Estate Development LLC’s Founding Director, Eric T. Gastevich, says that when completed “the total development for 2929 Carlson and 2901 Carlson, with the 4 outlots, will be over $20M.” They are at 100% capacity for the first office building and have additional interest in both the upcoming second office building and the four outlots.

The groundbreaking will be on Tuesday, June 12th at 2pm. The ceremony will take place at 2901 Carlson Drive, Hammond, IN 43623. The public is invited.
