Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Economic Development Department invite you to the last presentation of Jeff Speck and Associates, where they will present their Final Master Plan of Downtown Hammond on Wednesday, November 20th at the Towle Theater, 5205 Hohman Avenue, from 6pm to 7:30pm. Doors will open at 5:30pm, with light refreshments in the lobby.
On this evening, Jeff Speck will present the final transit-oriented master plan, describing key features and recommendations in detail. Highlights will include transforming Hohman Avenue, developing unbuilt parcels and retrofitting historic buildings and integrating the upcoming commuter rail, all helping to revive the downtown core as a livable, attractive, and vibrant urban neighborhood. Zimmerman/Volk Associates will also present a recent housing market study, focusing on introducing a critical mass of new residents that will help bring downtown Hammond back to life.
“The potential plans we have been working on with Jeff Speck and his team are innovative and attainable for our downtown area. We are already seeing interest from developers looking to be part of this great change. And having people looking to live downtown and make it their home is a game-changer for Hammond and the Region. We are thinking big and it’s paying off,” said Mayor McDermott.
