Notice is hereby given that the City of Hammond is seeking public input for its Consolidated Plan for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-26. The Consolidated Plan describes the City’s strategy to use federal funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to meet its priority needs in the areas of community development, affordable housing, and homelessness.
The programs funded through the Consolidated Plan are designed to create more suitable living environments, provide affordable housing, and create economic opportunities, primarily for persons of low- and moderate-income (those earning 80 percent or less of the local area median income). The scope of eligible activities established by HUD ranges from public works improvements to housing rehabilitation and social service programs.
Notice is hereby given that the City has prepared the Consolidated Plan for FY 2022-2026 and the plan is available for public review and comment online and at the Communit Development Department at City Hall, located at 5925 Calumet Ave. All comments received by August 10th will be summarized and included in the final version of the plan submitted to HUD.
Public comments will be received formally at a Public Hearing to be held on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022, at the Hammond Redevelopment Commission meeting, in the Council Chambers at Hammond City Hall located at 5925 Calumet Ave., Hammond, IN 46320, second-floor room 209 at 4:30 p.m. The City will attempt to accommodate translation for other languages and persons with disabilities if a request is made at least three days in advance. If the City cannot accommodate translation, the City will make alternative opportunities available for non-English speaking persons and persons with disabilities to participate.
