In its 2022-2026 Consolidated Plan, the City identified the expansion of community facilities to ensure the availability of services and programs as one of its goals. To meet this goal, the City of Hammond is proposing to apply for a Section 108 Loan Guarantee to fund the expansion of the wellness and recreational facility called the “Hammond Sportsplex and Community Center”. This project will increase the quality of life for the entire City, including its low- and moderate-income population. Specifically, the expansion of the Sportsplex and Community Center would improve the overall health and quality of life for City residents by providing additional recreational opportunities.
Notice is hereby given that the Section 108 Loan Guarantee Application is available for public review and comment online and at the Community Development Department at City Hall, located at 5925 Calumet Ave. All comments received by 4:00 p.m. on February 28, 2025, will be summarized and included in the final version of the plan submitted to HUD. The City will continue to accept comments from the public after its submittal and use public comments to guide and inform possible future amendments.
Public comments will also be received formally at a Public Hearing to be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Hammond City Council Meeting, in the Council Chambers at Hammond City Hall located at 5925 Calumet Ave., Hammond, IN 46320 starting at 6:00 p.m. The City will make reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities and/or Limited English Proficiency (LEP).
