Purdue University Calumet, 2200 169th St., is hosting a program tonight for 21st Century Scholars.
Senior Affirmation Night for 21st Century Scholars will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Rooms 103 and 107 of the Gyte Building. It is offered to ensure that 21st Century high school seniors understand what they must do during their final year of high school to earn a 21st Century Scholarship.
Participating high school seniors will be provided an affirmation form which must be completed and signed with a parent/guardian present.
To earn a college scholarship and free support services, the students commit to maintaining at least a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); remain drug, alcohol and crime-free; and enroll in college as a full-time student within one year of high school graduation.
The students also will learn about deadlines and procedures for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which they must complete by March 10 to be eligible for a 21st Century Scholarship.
The 21st Century Scholars Program offers income-eligible students beginning in seventh grade up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible Indiana college or university following high school graduation.
