Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. along with Hammond Public Works and Republic Services invite everyone in Lake County to join us for an education on recycling being held on Thursday, October 24 from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Hammond Sportsplex and Community Center, 6630 Indianapolis Boulevard. During the Recycling Summit, you will learn what you can and cannot recycle and an expert panel will answer all of your questions. There will be interactive fun, videos and give aways. This event is open to all ages.
“When we visited the Republic Services processing plant, it was a big eye opener for us. We learned about many things we were doing incorrectly as recycling citizens, and we decided to pass that information along to the residents of Lake County. This will benefit our municipal recycling programs and help save the environment as well,” says Mayor McDermott.
Our expert panel consists of: Mayor McDermott of Hammond, Doug Rosenbaum of Republic Recycling, Gary Gleason the Hammond Director of Public Works and Johnny Perez, Deputy Director of Hammond Public Works. This event will be live streamed on Facebook Live and then made available to the public afterward on gohammond.tv.
“The Recycling Summit will be run like one of my monthly Mayor’s Night Out Town Hall event meetings. That means we will take written questions from the audience and have a Facilitator with a microphone ask the questions and follow them up with additional questions on the written topics,” says Mayor McDermott.
