Splash Dance and Bizarre Bazaar keep summer alive in Hammond

While summer is winding down and children have returned to school, the city of Hammond still has plenty of fun planned.

A Special Needs Splash Dance is planned from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hammond’s splash pad at the Wolf Lake Aquatic Play Center, a state-of-the-art facility at 2100 Calumet Ave. complete with splash pad, changing rooms, concession stand, picnic areas and a new playground.

Bazaar comes to park

Don’t miss out on the ninth annual Bizarre Bazaar scheduled for Sept. 20 at Harrison Park, Hohman Avenue and Waltham Street in downtown Hammond.

The fun starts at 10 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. Enjoy a day packed with events for the whole family – a 5K run/walk, arts and crafts, car and motorcycle show, food vendors, children’s games, live entertainment, a pie baking contest, pony rides and more.

Fall is right around the corner, don’t miss out on this outdoor activity.

MMA fights return

Mixed Martial Arts fights are coming back to the Hammond Civic Center starting Sept. 20. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the first fight starts at 8.

Air show in miniature

Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 Mahoney Drive, will host the Midwest Sundowners R/C Flying Club’s Annual Remote-Controlled Airplane Air Show from noon to 3 p.m Sept. 27. Watch for the special plane that will do a Candy Drop for the youngsters.

Mark the calendar
